Why can’t I send messages in Messenger?

If you are unable to send messages to anybody in Messenger, most likely you have been temporarily banned. You can confirm this in Messenger by looking for your SystemAdmin chat. Banned users will receive a message like this informing them of the ban.

You may appeal your ban by contacting another Admin, Director or Curriculum Director and requesting for your ban to be rescinded.

Scenario 2: You have been blocked

If you find that you are unable to send messages to only a specific user, most likely you have been blocked by that user. When this occurs, the text box in Messenger will be grayed out when you try to message that user.

You will not be able to send direct messages to that user until they unblock you.
